CHANCELLOR'S INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
Applications for the Chancellor's International Scholarship for entry in October 2016 are now open and will close on 13 January 2016.
The University of Warwick is committed to being able to ensure as many academically outstanding students as possible from around the world are able to study here.
The Chancellor's International Scholarships are allocated annually via a combined postgraduate research scholarship competition and are open to all overseas students in any discipline offered at Warwick.
Award Details
For 2016/17 entry there will be 25 Chancellor's International Scholarships available to be awarded to the most outstanding international PhD applicants. Awards made for entry in Autumn 2016 will include both of the following:
The full payment of overseas tuition fees (worth up to £18,800 at 15/16 rates, this figure is likely to increase with inflation for 2016/17)
A maintenance stipend in line with RCUK rates (provisional £14,254* for full time award holders in 2016/17)
Length of funding: 3.5 years unless you are already in your first year of study when you apply then the length of funding will be reduced accordingly
* Please note this is a RCUK provisional predicted figure and is subject to change.
Eligibility
Applicants for a Chancellor's International Scholarship must also be applying for a PhD at the University of Warwick to begin in October 2016;
Students currently enrolled on a PhD or MPhil/PhD at the University of Warwick may apply in their first year of registration only.
Applicants must expect to be 'overseas' students for fees purposes, but there is no other nationality criteria;
Applicants may be from any discipline at Warwick.

Applicants should read the guidance notes carefully before completing the application form.
New applicants can apply for the Chancellor’s International Scholarship by completing the Joint Postgraduate Admissions and Scholarship Application form. If you are eligible for this scholarship you will be asked if you would like to be considered for funding as part of your application to the University. Please select YES at this point and you will be invited to complete further information that will form the basis of your application for this Scholarship.
If you are in the first year of your PhD or applied before 1st August 2015 and would like to be considered for this Scholarship to fund the remainder of your studies please complete the Single Scholarship Application form.

TWO FULLY FUNDED 5-YEAR PHD FELLOWSHIPS IN THE FIELD OF ANTHROPOLOGY OF TOURISM.
The candidates should hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in the social sciences (anthropology, ethnology, human geography) or in other disciplines relevant to the candidate’s proposal and have an interest in anthropological theory and ethnographic work on a tourism-related topic.
The specific focus of the fellowships is open and must be specified in the candidate’s proposal. Possible tourism-related topics are: resource management; circulation and material culture; contemporary forms of travelling journeymen; magic; wine/travelling winemakers.
Proficiency in either French or English is required; working knowledge of the other language would be an advantage. A good working level of French should be acquired within 2 years following the appointment.

BAGSS STARTER SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GERMAN AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS, 2016
The Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences (BAGSS) is offering up to 6 doctoral scholarships for German and international students. These scholarships are awarded for one year, from April 2016 to March 2017. The scholarship amounts to 1,365.00 EUR per month plus a grant for material costs, adding up to a total of 1,468.00 EUR, plus family allowances and child-care expenses in accordance with the DFG guidelines where applicable. The applications deadline is October 31, 2015.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded for projects that fit with at least one of School’s four Pillars:
Pillar 1 Education, personal development and learning from early childhood to adulthood
Pillar 2 Education and social inequality across the entire life course
Pillar 3 Changes in human capital, labour markets and demographic structures and their impact on social inequality in modern societies
Pillar 4 Governance, institutional change and political behavior
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing doctoral research programme at the Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences.

Eligibility:
-BAGSS invites applications from highly qualified graduates in the fields of Sociology, Psychology, Education, Political Science, Labour and Educational Economics and Demography. Qualified graduates of related subjects with a strong Social Science background are also encouraged to apply. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in one of the aforementioned subjects or be very close to completion. (The degree must be completed by the time of admission to BAGSS. The next admission date is April 1, 2016.)
-Applicants need to provide at least one, but not more than two proposals for research topics which they would like to pursue in their doctoral project. The suggested topics need to fit thematically to at least one of the four academic pillars of BAGSS.
-Applicants must have an excellent command of English. If English is not your native tongue, you need to supply a proof of proficiency.
Scholarship Open for International Students: German and international students can apply for these doctoral scholarships.

Selection Criteria: The selection procedure for the starter scholarships – and therefore an admission to BAGSS – is a highly competitive process with appropriate consideration for diversity and equal opportunities. The two main criteria are the candidate’s proven record of academic excellence on the one hand, and BAGSS’ ability to ensure competent, research-led supervision on the other. Criteria applied in the selection procedure for the regular membership at BAGSS, i.e. for the admission to BAGSS, supervision and the award of scholarships
-A complete, formally correct application has been submitted by the advertised deadline in the required fashion
-The statutory criteria for admission to doctoral studies at Bavarian universities are met.
-The research topic for the doctoral dissertation, as proposed in the application, matches the academic profile of BAGSS.
-At least one faculty member of BAGSS, who is eligible for the examination of doctoral theses, agrees to supervise the suggested dissertation topic.
-The complete application has been judged as excellent by a panel of academic assessors from the Graduate School in competition with other applications.
Notification: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in an interview. Interviews are scheduled to take place in Bamberg in December 2015. In exceptional cases, a video conference may suffice. All candidates will be informed about the final decision before the end of the year 2015.

WZB-ISSC GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES IN GERMANY, 2016
The WZB, in cooperation with the ISSC offering fellowship for outstanding early career scientist from a developing country to spend four to six months at the WZB. Applicants must be postdoctoral researcher with no more than 5 years’ work experience after their PhD or scientists without a PhD but with an equivalent level of research experience and output and must be residing and working in a developing country. The deadline for applications is October 30, 2015.
Study Subject(s): The research project of the Fellow should focus on global societal problems with particular relevance to developing country contexts. Moreover, it should be linked to research conducted at the WZB.
Course Level: Fellowship is available for postdoctoral researchers to conduct research at the WZB.
Scholarship Provider: The International Social Science Council (ISSC) and the WZB Berlin Social Science Center
Scholarship can be taken at: Germany
Eligibility: The WZB, in cooperation with the ISSC invites applications for one early career scientist (postdoctoral researcher with no more than 5 years’ work experience after their PhD or scientists without a PhD but with an equivalent level of research experience and output) residing and working in a developing country to conduct research for up to six months in 2016 at the WZB. The fellowship enables an outstanding early career scientist from a developing country to spend four to six months in 2016 at the WZB to conduct research.

Duration of award(s): This WZB-ISSC Global Fellowship is awarded for up to six months.
What does it cover? The Fellow will receive:
-a grant for up to six months at a level commensurate with a German postdoctoral researcher,
-a contribution to local accommodation (up to EUR 500 per month),
-Economy roundtrip ticket to and from Berlin,
-Workspace (equipped with PC, Internet and email access, telephone), as well as full library privileges and additional technical services.
How to Apply: Applications should be submitted electronically, preferably in one PDF document via email. Candidates should submit the following documents:
-A letter of motivation, including the preferred timing of the research stay at the WZB in 2016, as well as an explanation of the difference the stay will make to their personal careers and in their home institutions (maximum 1 page).
-A brief research proposal (including title) for the duration of the residency, as well as a summary of their main research and teaching contributions, indicating how these relate to the research topics at the WZB. Candidates should also address the societal relevance of their research (maximum 1,000 words).
-A curriculum vitae, including information on education, publications, participation in research projects and networks, teaching experience, awards and prizes received and other pertinent experiences. (Note: The majority of the degrees should have been awarded in developing countries).
-2 letters of recommendation from current or past senior colleagues.
-An indication of their English language proficiency.
-An agreement from their home institution to the research stay in Germany, if selected (applicable only if the candidate is employed during the proposed period of the Fellowship).

TÜBITAK RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME FOR FOREIGN CITIZENS IN TURKEY, 2016
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) is offering research fellowship programme for international highly qualified PhD students and young postdoctoral researchers. Maximum duration for the fellowship is 12 months. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the potential to contribute significantly to Turkey’s goal of international cooperation in scientific and technological development. The application deadline is 19 October 2015.
Study Subject(s): Fellowships are awarded in the field of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technological Sciences, Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities.
Course Level: Fellowships are available for PhD students and young postdoctoral researchers to pursue research at universities or research institutes in Turkey.
Scholarship Provider: The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK)
Scholarship can be taken at: Turkey
Eligibility:
-Applicants should be non-Turkish citizens. Applicants who hold dual citizenship with Turkey are not eligible to apply.
-Applicants should have an invitation from the universities or research institutes in Turkey.
-Applicants should certify that they have sufficient command of language to perform their research.
-Applicants must be 35 years old or younger.
-Applicants should be enrolled in a program in abroad for PhD students.
-Applicants who hold a PhD degree in Turkey should have a GPA minimum of 3.50/4.00 in PhD program.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Foreign citizens (non-Turkish citizens) can apply for the research fellowship programme.
Scholarship Description: The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBITAK) grants fellowships for international highly qualified PhD students and young post-doctoral researchers to pursue their research in Turkey in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technological Sciences, Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities. The program aims to promote Turkey’s scientific and technological collaboration with countries of the prospective researchers. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the potential to contribute significantly to Turkey’s goal of international cooperation in scientific and technological development.

Duration of award(s): Maximum duration for the fellowship is 12 months.
What does it cover?
-A monthly stipend of 2.250 Turkish Liras.
-Travel costs (round trip up to 2250 TL) and Health insurance premiums (up to 2250 TL) (all fellows should send the receipts of their travel and insurance expenses for the reimbursement via mail to TÜBITAK). In case of approval of TÜBITAK Department of Science Fellowships and Grant Programs (B?DEB) Steering Committee, travel costs and health insurance for the fellow may be partially covered.
Selection Criteria: The proposal will be evaluated according to the following 4 evaluation criteria:
-Research potential of the fellow
-Scientific and technological quality of the research proposal
-Impact of the proposed fellowship to the applicant’s training and career development to the hosting institution and to Turkey
-Implementation of the proposed research
How to Apply: All applications must be submitted electronically via TUBITAK scholarship application portal. All accompanying required documents must also be uploaded electronically. In order to complete application process, applicants must approve their applications on the application deadline. Applications not fulfilling any eligibility criteria, lacking any of the required documents will not be processed. During the application, the original copies of required documents are not demanded. However, applicants who receive the fellowship must send the original copy of required documents in order to be able to use their fellowships.
