Kluge Fellowships in Digital Studies
The Library's John W. Kluge Center seeks proposals from scholars worldwide that will generate deep, empirically-grounded understanding of the consequences of the digital revolution on how people think, how society functions, and how international relations shift. Proposals may also explore and analyze emerging trends and new phenomena that may generate consequential changes in the future. All proposals must state the importance of the research to fundamental thinking about the human condition. Scholars are encouraged to think creatively about how the Library's collections may inform a study of the digital revolution's impact on how we think, how we live, and how we relate to one another.
Applications are due December 6, 2018. Find out more information at our

Institute for Research in the Humanities University of Wisconsin-Madison Solmsen Fellowship Call for Applications 2019-2020
Art History, Culture, Eurasian Studies, History, Humanities, Literature, Philosophy, Political Sciences, Religious Studies
The Institute for Research in the Humanities will offer five Solmsen Fellowships for 2019-2020 to be awarded to a scholar from outside the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Through a generous bequest from Friedrich and Lieselotte Solmsen, the Solmsen Fellowships sponsor scholars working in the humanities on European history, literature, philosophy, politics, religion, art and culture in the classical, medieval, and/or early modern periods before 1700. Projects on the relationship of pre-1700 Europe to other parts of the world are also welcome. The Solmsen Fellowship does not typically support editions or translations.
Solmsen Fellows are expected to be in residence throughout the academic year (except for short research trips, lectures, conferences, etc.) and may extend their residency through the following summer on a non-stipendary basis. However, the fellowship may not be deferred for any reason. The award provides a stipend of $55,000, office space, support services, and access to all university facilities. Solmsen Fellows are also expected to participate in the intellectual life of the Institute by attending the weekly Monday afternoon seminars (3:30-5:00 PM) and presenting their work at one of these meetings. Monday seminars are followed by an informal Tuesday lunch (Noon-1:00 PM) for those who are interested in further discussion of the Monday presentation. Fellows are also encouraged to attend other Institute events, as time and interest permit. Please consult the Institute’s website (irh.wisc.edu) for more information about other Institute fellowships and activities.
Eligibility
• The Institute encourages applications from senior scholars as well as junior scholars with research projects that are well advanced.
